Adding Security Style

Composite Doors

Initially doors for the home were made out of wood, then uPVC came along and not the next generation of front doors appear to be composite doors. Wood has its beauty especially solid wood, but it does require maintenance, regular staining, varnishing or painting is the only way to keep that solid wood door looking perfect.

UPVC doors were supposed to take that maintenance away, especially as the manufacturing standards got better and prices started to reduce. For a while, you would see UPVC doors appearing everywhere, especially when double glazing was added to the home also. However, there is still some issues with these types of doors as they are essentially hollow, but filled with substance such as polystyrene, designed for keeping the warmth in, but not so strong for keeping out burglars

The latest solution is the composite door. It looks like a UPVC door, but instead of having a polystyrene inner, it has a wood inner, giving the benefit of low maintenance with added benefit of a solid wood inner, for higher security properties. If you look hard you can see how very competitive composite doors and their prices have become.

You are not restricted to one colour either, but the most popular colour for 2009, seems to be the black composite door, reflecting the current fashion. Not sure I have seen black UVPC windows to match though yet.
